Located in Downtown St. Petersburg’s Edge District, Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails offers “a warm and friendly space for friends to gather over coffee, a bottle of wine, or cocktails.” The coffee and cocktails space was facing an uncertain future, however, when it was revealed that its current home, at 1111 Central Avenue, might face demolition before the construction of a proposed hotel.

According to recent coverage by St. Pete Rising, Intermezzo’s owner Jarrett Sabatini has secured a new location at 1049 Central Avenue, just down the street. The space was previously occupied by the Independent Bar. Intermezzo is expected to open there before the end of 2023.

“I always knew my time at 1111 Central Avenue was limited,” Sabatini says in the St. Pete Rising coverage. “We started as a pop-up to begin with, I didn’t expect to stay for more than three months, so I’m grateful I was able to stay for six years.”

In its new, more spacious home, Intermezzo can be expected to offer the same slate of espresso drinks and drip and cold brews, plus cocktails like the Branca Brew (bourbon, cold brew, fernet menta) and the Caffè Mezzo (vodka, espresso liqueur, cold brew, chocolate bitters).

The new location is also expected to feature an outdoor patio, possibly including a dedicated outdoor bar. Sabatini told St. Pete Rising he intends to double down on the bar component, and the new location’s outdoor space may come to be used for live music events and lounge seating, along with private parties and events.
