A brand new take on bagels is heading to St. Pete Beach this summer. Tiki Bagel will offer Noshman’s Bagels shipped in from New York City, coffee from Elevation Coffee, and a lot of Hawaiian flavors thrown into the mix, when it launches at 455 75th Ave N this summer. Tiki Bagel has a target opening of June 15.

“We’re going to do some things that might be a little different,” owner PJ Powell told What Now on Wednesday.

Launching in a convenient location, the Tiki Bagel space will feature seating for just over 50 guests in the former home of Gayle’s Diner, including both indoor and outdoor seating. Local artist Leo Gomez is also putting together a mural on the side of the building.

“Tiki Bagel will offer a unique and delicious menu of bagels with a Hawaiian Twist,” says the brand’s website. “In addition to our bagels, we will also offer a selection of coffee drinks, smoothies, and other breakfast and lunch items.”

There will also be a cereal bar where kids will be able to concoct their own fun bowl of cereal.

Powell added, in recent coverage by St. Pete Rising, that the concept is intended, in the longer term, to be a franchise.

“When we were younger, my wife and I wanted to start our own business, but it was super expensive to start a franchise, and so we’re going to make our franchise a low-cost venture that’s financially accessible for young entrepreneurs,” Powell told St. Pete Rising. “We’re not going to be charging a massive franchise fee.”
