Two brand new concepts—Juno & the Peacock, a restaurant serving “New American Coastal Cuisine,” and Pluma, a cocktail lounge that “will introduce guests to new drinking traditions”—are set to open in St. Pete this summer at 400 Beach Drive, in the space formerly occupied by taphouse and seafood restaurant 400 Beach.

Juno & the Peacock and Pluma come from the culinary imaginations of Shawn and Jeanna Damkoehler, Pinellas County locals and owners of Mediterranean-Aegean restaurant Allelo. As a press release announced earlier this month, Juno & the Peacock takes its mission “from the timeless cautionary table of Aesop’s fable”; namely, it “endeavors to reflect the best of the Sunshine City by showcasing the blessing already bestowed upon us—locally sourced ingredients, prepared in-house, enjoyed in a picturesque setting.”

“Having lived here all my life, I am incredibly proud to contribute to the growth of St. Pete and bring new dining experiences to my hometown,” co-owner Jeanna Damkoehler said in the press release. “It has been a labor of love, bringing together experts in every field, from the design firm to the culinary and beverage teams, to create an entirely new culinary destination in the Tampa Bay area. We can’t wait to unveil the concepts in a few short months and are confident our vision and attention to detail will impress.”

At Juno & the Peacock, expect a menu in which “every dish will tell a story,” combining “American fare, like dry-aged steaks, with modern coastal cuisine, such as a seafood tower with a signature twist, seared grouper and crab cakes approved by Maryland raised owner Shawn Damkoehler.”

Juno & the Peacock will also be home to Pluma, a new cocktail lounge drawing from Latin American mixological traditions, offering “spirited cocktails from Lima to Tulum, select wines by the glass and light bites woven together to create a truly memorable guest experience in an enchanting environment.”
