A representative of Legacy Hospitality Companies did not immediately return a request for comment.
At the time of the announcement, Legacy Companies’ CEO, Karnardo Garnett, told the Tampa Bay Business Journal, “Currently, the brand’s only Florida locations are in the Miami area, so I’m looking to tap into its growing popularity and fulfill the need for cooked-to-order charburgers in Central Florida.”
Likewise, The Habit Burger Grill’s CEO, Russ Bendel, told QSR Magazine, “We are excited to make our debut in the Tampa Bay area with a strong and skilled operator like Karnardo. His belief in our brand on top of his vast industry experience will set us up for success to grow throughout the state of Florida and flourish.”
The Habit Burger Grill, which celebrated its 53rd anniversary yesterday, Nov 15, was founded in the sunny Southern California city of Santa Barbara.
“Inspired by this coastal town’s laid-back vibrancy and passion for culinary exploration,” the company writes on its website, “a simple idea formed: The love of the craft.”
Adding, “This means always chargrilling our burgers over an open flame. It means using only the best ingredients we can find. And bringing everything together through our genuine, world-class hospitality. In the end, it all comes from that first idea. A vision that became our Habit.”
