On Monday, Jan 16, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, a Texas-based Baja-inspired Mexican franchise, filed a plan review with the city of Lutz to open an outpost at 19729 State Rd 54 around mid-March, marking five stores in the region for franchise group FTB Services, and six for the restaurant overall

“We’ve been waiting to open a location up in Lutz since we bought that land in 2018,” Ian Lieberman of FTB Services tells What Now Tampa. “We decided that Lutz was an appropriate location for a Fuzzy’s based on our customer sentiment. We’ve had customers from all over the region that either have family in Lutz, that are from the area, that live up there now and work in areas we have other stores. So like everything else in the restaurant business, it behooves us to listen to our customers, and in doing so we found that the 54 Corridor up in Lutz – really extending from Trinity all the way over to Wesley Chapel – we’ve got a lot of people that like what we do up there. And we believe that it’s truly an underserved market, from a restaurant standpoint, and from a Fuzzy’s standpoint we provide a style of service that currently doesn’t exist in the market. Not only do we offer a full liquor bar, in an atmosphere and environment that’s pretty chilled out, and great to spend time with either friends or family, but we offer affordable fast-casual food that lends itself quite well to both take-out as well as dine-in occasions.”

The Fuzzy’s menu takes its cues from the seaside flavors of Baja California, with signature tacos that include Grilled Shrimp and Tempura Mahi, as well as traditional meat options like Shredded Chicken, Carnitas, and Fajita Beef, all of which can also be ordered as a burrito. The menu also features breakfast burritos and tacos, enchiladas, nachos, quesadillas, salads, and more.

This year marks the brand’s 20th anniversary, with upwards of 150 restaurants spread across the country. What’s more, over those 20 years, the restaurant has prided itself on being “a place where people bring their dogs, party on our patios, and feel the good vibes every time they walk into a Fuzzy’s,” according to its website
