Founded in the troubled year of 2020, The Sommelier Hideway worked through a difficult start, facing delays during COVID-19 lockdowns.

“We started just before COVID hit,” Gil, who owns Sommelier Hideaway, told What Now on Monday. “We signed our lease that January, just before everything was announced. It changed everything we thought we were going to be able to do.”

Despite this, the wine bar met with success, no doubt thanks to its being, at bottom, a passion project.

“I always tell people we’re professional consumers,” Gil said. “We’re passionate about wine and the wine industry. We’re happy to bring great wine experiences to customers. We still found great people, and we built a great customer base.”

The new location will seat about sixty guests, offering a wide variety of wines, including nearly 100 different choices available by the glass. It will also feature a kitchen, which is a new development, allowing for more food offerings. Details on these are scarce so far, but expect things like baked brie, flatbreads, and more.
