Founded in Jacksonville by Chef Mark Davoli and his family, Metro Diner has grown to include more than 60 locations in 12 states. It made a name for itself on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, when “Fieri raved about many Metro signature items including our Fried Chicken & Waffles and Iron City Meatloaf.” Now, the brand is expanding in the Tampa Bay market with a new location opening in Brandon.

“We’re looking at September,” a representative told What Now on Thursday. “Our home office is in the Tampa Bay Area, and by opening in Brandon, that’s our next step toward growing in the area.”

Popular items from the Metro Diner menu include Fried Chicken and Waffles, the Bissell Breakfast (a classic breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns and a pancake), Charleston Shrimp & Grits (a popular brunch order, this dish features two fried grit cakes infused with cheese, roasted red peppers and andouille sausage; topped with shrimp, sausage, onions and peppers in a shrimp sauce), and the Classic Burger.

“This is your best local restaurant,” says the Metro Diner website’s About Us page. “Where you come for a hot cup of coffee, a warm welcome, and a full belly. Where familiar comfort food dishes meet new, bold obsessions. Where you’ll find a menu full of unique takes on classic Southern food and breakfast served all day. Join us — we promise to bring something special to the table.”

The Brandon location will open in the Brandon Centre South shopping center, at the intersection of Providence Road and West Lumsden Road. Anchored by an Aldi, the shopping center is already home to restaurants like Cicis Pizza and Bonefish Grill.
