Known for his popular Cafe Cibo, which offers stone-oven pizzas and traditional Italian cuisine at 8697 4th St. N in St. Petersburg, Chef Frank Schittino is launching a new restaurant concept. A recently submitted plan review shows the restaurant, which will be called Frankie’s Italian ChopHouse, opening nearby, at 8901 4th St N.

What Now reached out to Schittino on Monday. The chef confirmed the existence of the Frankie’s Italian ChopHouse project but said no projected opening date has been decided upon yet. Schittino declined to comment further on the concept.

No information is yet available on the Frankie’s Italian ChopHouse menu either. Cafe Cibo has gained a loyal following serving up entrees like Pollo alla Griglia; Veal Florentine sautéed in white wine with demiglaze, topped with garlic, spinach and provolone cheese; and Shrimp Scampi. It is unknown how closely Frankie’s Italian ChopHouse might mirror the Cibo menu.

Located near the intersection with 90th Avenue North, Frankie’s Italian Chophouse will be part of a food and drink community that includes Big Steins Deli and Village Inn. Nearby, more casual options include Pizza Hut, Culver’s and Wendy’s.
