Born in Ybor City, Blind Tiger Coffee Roasters has grown to a total of seven locations, and now it’s preparing to move its Ybor location down the street into the space formerly occupied by Boneyard Bar, at 1823 E Seventh Ave. Blind Tiger owner Roberto Torres is working to make sure the new location pays homage to the longtime Ybor City watering hole.

“Roberto has worked very closely with the owner of the Boneyard,” a representative of Blind Tiger told What Now on Thursday. “He was really instrumental in making this happen, and he cared deeply about what he built in twenty years. It’s an honor that he’s entrusting Blind Tiger with that Legacy.”

In honor of Boneyard Bar’s memory, the new Blind Tiger will continue to serve the bar’s World Famous Wings, Chopped Cheese sandwich, and Fries. Otherwise, you can continue to expect Blind Tiger’s signature drinks like the Dirty Thaiger, Cafe Bombon, Nitro Cold Brew, and Kombucha. Blind Tiger is also working to become a premier destination for natural wine and craft beer, the representative said.

The new space will more than double the cafe’s capacity, and there are plans to add a rooftop speakeasy. Blind Tiger will use the additional space to house special events and to double as an intimate music venue. Overall, expect a modern elevated space made in collaboration with local artists, designers, and other professionals. This is in keeping, the representative said, with a brand that is community-focused, brought to Tampa Bay by local community pillar Roberto Torres, who is a board member of Feeding Tampa Bay.

“When you support Blind Tiger, you’re supporting the whole community,” the representative said.
