Behind the new restaurant is Cesare Di Iorio, who has served as pizzaiolo at Osteria 500 at Waterside Place, says a recent post by the Sarasota restaurant insider Facebook page Restaurants in Sarasota.

“Waterside Place’s loss is downtown Sarasota’s gain,” says the post. “Cesare, who recently took 2nd place at the Neapolitan Pizza world championship in Las Vegas has taken over the Ama La Vita spot at 1551. Main ST. and will, along with a partner, be opening Trattoria Bella Napoli.”

What Now confirmed the news on Friday with Maria Perrini, a partner in the project. Perrini declined to share any details on the Trattoria Bella Napoli restaurant’s menu at this time.

Opening in the Main Street location, Trattoria Bella Napoli will join a large restaurant community that includes concepts like Peru 941, C’est La Vie, Evie’s Tavern & Grill, and Cask and Ale.
